The senior classes were more of a challenge. They want some "up-to-date" material and I'm very definitely a person from the past. They want songs from the current pop charts and I want to introduce them to some of the musicals. Problem with the pop songs is many of the lyrics aren't age appropriate. Eventually, I came up with a solution. Show title: "A Night In" Husband and wife in front of the television, watching all their favourite programmes, Celebrity "The Weakest Link" "The X-Factor" "Hits from the Musicals" and a classroom scene.
Yesterday, they had their first preview of the show and listened to the music. It included Jedwards entry to the Eurovison, Songs from Grease and Abba, Les Miserables and Cabaret.
But what surprised me most was their delight with an song from the '80s "Aon Focal Eile" This is the Irish for "One Other Word"
I think the appeal is how close the Irish word for word -focal - sounds to a rude english word:-)
All I have to do now is sort a script for my own class, the 5-6 year olds. I feel an investigation into the death of Poor Cock Robin coming on.
That sounds so interesting! I take my hat off for you because I honestly would have no idea where to start! Good luck and I hope all goes well.
